DIY Pneumatic Package for TeknoMotor ATC41
A set of parts needed to make a good air circuit for the TeknoMotor ATC41 or other ATC milling motors with similar connections. Starting with the shut-off valve. This valve can be connected to the 24VDC power supply of your CNC or robot controller or to an output on the IO board. The valve will then automatically cut off the power to the TeknoMotor when the system is turned off. When the electronics are turned on, the air supply is automatically turned on. This prevents you from having to open/close valves, which is easy to forget. The next item in the SYNTESI module is a pressure regulator combined with a 20um filter. With this module the required pressure can be set. The pressure can be adjusted somewhere in the range of 6-7 bar is normal, more pressure with longer hoses, or systems where the upstream pressure fluctuates a lot. The 20um filter will remove large particles. It will remove some moisture, but not all. It is very important to always use dry air. If this is ignored, water can get into the bearings and cause damage to the motor. The next steps in the SYNTESI are 2 more filters with a particle size of 5um and 0.1um. These filter out smaller impurities. The impurities collect in the cups under the filters. When the air pressure is reduced to zero, they automatically clean themselves. So this actually happens every day when you turn the device on / off. It makes some noise, this is normal (you can hear this when switching off). The last step in the SYNTESI module is a pressure sensor and pressure gauge. Here you can read the pressure after all the filtering. The pressure sensor can be set to the desired value, this depends on how much pressure you have set. Suppose you have set the pressure to 6 bar, then set the sensor to a lower value, 4.5 or 5 bar. This will cause some variation in air pressure. It is important that the motor has an air flow all the time, but not much power is needed to keep dirt / chips out of the bearings. There is always pressure needed to keep the piston up and away from rotating parts. It is essential to monitor with the CNC or PLC that you are always under pressure. Do not let the engine run with no or too low pressure. We also supply the connector and 10 meters of cable to connect this sensor to the IO card of the CNC or Robot controller. The sensor has a NC and NO contact, so it can be wired as desired. We advise to have a NC closed contact when the pressure is at a safe level. In that case, forgetting or removing the cable will also be seen by the CNC or PLC controller, and an error message will be given.
We also supply the correct pneumatic hoses that are suitable for energy chains and that are chemically resistant. We also supply extra fittings and adapter pieces, which are often useful to connect to a robot.
The last item we supply are 2 flow regulators, these need to be mounted on the ATC41 motor. And replace the original green connections from TeknoMotor with orange ones from MetalWork. With the A4 connection you can adjust how much flow is used during cone cleaning. This can be adjusted as desired, depending on how dirty the environment is. The A2 connection is for adjusting the amount of flow through the Labyrinth seal for the milling motor. This also depends on how dirty/dirty the environment is. More flow will provide better protection against dust particles that could otherwise get into the front bearing.
